Shaleen Vira is an MD candidate at the NYU School of Medicine. He is president of Access Health, a university-wide healthcare thinktank at NYU that is dedicated to developing and testing novel methods to extend healthcare access in both the US and in developing nations.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the NYU College of Arts and Sciences with degrees in Biology and Economics with honors, Shaleen hopes to develop innovative strategies to improve the American healthcare system by re-engineering existing financial structures and incentive mechanisms. His social entrepreneurial vision is to propose and drive reforms that improve access for the indigent while being economically attractive to the various institutions that comprise the healthcare system.
