Lauren Gunderson is a published playwright, screenwriter, poet, and short story author who incorporates science, feminism, and humanism into her writing. Her play, Emilie: La Marquise du Chatelet Defends her life Tonight, premiered at preeminent regional theater South Coast Repertory in April 2009 and is published by Samuel French. She is currently writing commissions for South Coast Repertory, The Kennedy Center, and The Playwrights Foundation; and has been commissioned by theaters across the country.
Lauren's socio-feminist play Fire Work was featured at the prestigious O'Neill National Playwrights Conference in 2009. Her play Background, about cosmologist Ralph Alpher, was published in the spring/summer issue of ISOTOPE: A Journal of Nature and Science Writing.
Lauren is an avid proponent of science education through theatre, especially for young women, and has written science-theatre plays touring in middle and high schools on both coasts.
