Bio and Resume (.pdf)
Adam Gromis imagines a more socially and environmentally sustainable world through healthier communities. In particular, Adam believes lower income communities can become more sustainable through the acquisition of green collar jobs, environmental justice and transportation equity.
After earning a double major in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science from University of Calfornia, Davis, Adam worked for a year at the California Air Resources Board (part of the California Environmental Protection Agency) investigating cleaner transportation options as they related to air quality, environmental justice and economic growth. Realizing the necessary but difficult-to-negotiate interrelation between governmental policy, commercial business, and public end-users, Adam took an opportunity to work for the California Fuel Cell Partnership (CaFCP) late in 2002. The CaFCP offered a one-of-a-kind opportunity to work in collaboration with businesses across multiple sectors and government agencies toward a common vision for a more sustainable transportation and energy future. At the CaFCP, Adam managed a small staff of professionals with programmatic responsibilities including public education, member consensus building, new technology safety, and best practices exchange.
In 2007, Adam came to New York University to study at both the business and public policy schools to further develop an understanding of the interrelation between economics, policy, and low income communities. Adam is now in his third and last year in the dual degree program at NYU Stern and NYU Wagner. He has served in multiple officer positions within Stern's Social Enterprise Association and worked as a Graduate Associate at NYU Wagner's Rudin Center for Transportation Policy and Management. Over the summer of 2008, Adam interned at United Technologies Corporation Power working on the business plan for an advanced zero emission public transportation solution.
