During the weekdays most hall staffs and our central office are staffed with people there to answer your questions and help out with your day-to-day life while living on-campus. However, life doesnt stop at night and on the weekends so we offer a tiered duty system to make sure someone is there to help if anyone is in need.
Our department has 4 tiers to our duty system that create a web of support and assistance to students and staff in need ranging from lock-outs to hospital visits. Here are the tiers in order of typical contact:
- Hall Duty: each residence hall has at least one Resident Assistant on duty after hours
- Area Graduate Duty: each of our three areas of campus have a Community Education Assistant (graduate student staff) who is on duty after hours
- Area Professional Duty: each of our three areas of campus have a Community Development Educator (full-time, live-in, professional staff) on duty after hours
- Administrator on Duty: the highest level of support after hours is a central administrator on duty who has worked in the profession for at least three years after earning their Masters degree
