Welcome to Water Street! Water Street is a dynamic community located steps away from the historic South Street Seaport. Consisting of approximately 1200 residents, Water Street houses primarily upper class students with a Choices Floor, the Mixed-Sexed Housing program, an Explorations community, and 28 Resident Assistants. We have a fitness center, a computer lounge, two wireless study lounges, a television lounge, and three other lounges for students. Among our fantastic facilities, we have a variety of programmatic and community-based opportunities occurring as well, which include two Faculty-in-Residence (Lok Siu and Lisa Stulberg), who live-in and provide educational-based programming. In addition we have a Social Justice Film Series, The Water Street Hall Council (H200) where you can run for an elected position or serve on the general assembly, The Off the Island series, a great blog (waterisablog.blogspot.com), as well as a host of programs that go on throughout the year to give you opportunities to get to know one another and explore NYU, the City, and surrounding areas.
Our theme for the 2008 – 2009 year is “Leave your Watermark” inspired by Water Street’s last year as an NYU residence hall. How will you leave your mark in Water Street? Will you attend Hall Council meetings, plan programs with your RAs, cook dinner for your floor, or attend a program sponsored by your FFiR? It is our hope that throughout the course of the year, you will discover all of the positive ways that you can leave your mark on Water as well as all of the benefits of being part of this community. We look forward to getting to know you throughout the year!
