All spaces in the inventory are shown as suites, rooms and bed spaces. A bed space is a component of a room and a room is a component of a suite.
The card captain is ultimately responsible for completing the assignment process for those students who submitted a card as a group.
All members of a lottery card must be assigned simultaneously or else the entire group will remain unassigned.
If single suites or rooms still exist within a selected building, students selecting by themselves will be shown those spaces as their only option. If there are no singles available, they may select from any available space within that building.
Within a selected hall, groups MUST fill rooms that match their group size. If no room matching the group size is available in a particular hall the group may:
- Open a room larger than their group size
- Select another hall
- Split apart either within the same hall or different halls
Suites, rooms and bed spaces that are unavailable due to the size of a group or due to having been previously selected will be "grayed out" of the inventory.
Available suites, rooms and/or bed spaces appear as the default in the inventory. Students have the option of viewing unavailable spaces by checking the filter box at the top of the page.
Students have the option of filtering suites to show available low cost housing options.
Compiling a list of preferred suites does not prevent those spaces from being selected by other students who may be selecting at the same time. Assignment availability must first be verified by the card captain and then submitted.
Other students may be selecting spaces that appear on a preferred suite list. Students can refresh the availability of their preferred suites at anytime.
Card Captains are responsible for printing the confirmation page and sharing it with other group members.
As space becomes limited groups may be forced to split apart. ALL members of a group MUST be assigned or else the entire group will remain unassigned.
Please Note: As post lottery vacancies occur, the Department of Housing reserves the right to consolidate assignments in order to facilitate room changes over the summer. If such consolidation is necessary, students will be kept with their lottery card roommates, and every effort will be made to maintain the same room type within the hall chosen.
