The Residential College at Broome Street (New Applicants)

This application is for all upperclass students who are returning or transferring into NYU for the 2009-2010 academic year. All applicants must be guaranteed housing and meet all application and payment deadlines. This application is for students who have not lived in the Residential College before. Students who are reapplying to the Residential College should fill out this application: www.nyu.edu/resed/forms/rescollege_broome_returner.html

Residential College community residents will be selected and placed through the Residential College lottery system based upon information submitted with this application. Acceptance is not guaranteed. The information you provide in this application will be kept confidential. The Selection Committee is comprised of staff of the Department of Residential Education, Faculty Fellows in Residence, and The Residential College Board at Broome and Goddard.

Individuals not selected for a Residential College assignment must participate in the NYU Lottery system to receive a housing assignment, but will remain on the waiting list for a Residential College community vacancy should one become available during the academic year. (The NYU Lottery system occurs in March-April; at this time, students are administratively assigned by Housing if not placed in a special interest housing assignment )

Room assignments are made by New York University on the basis of the legal sex of the student, which is the sex assigned to the student at birth. However, students now have the option of requesting a room assignment based on gender identity, which is the gender a student identities with that may be different from the sex assigned to that student at birth. If a student selects this option, we will see to place the student in a room or suite with others of the same gender identity who have requested a room assignment on this basis, however, placement is not guaranteed. If such housing is not possible, legal sex will be used in determining housing placement in the Residential College. Please click here for more information about this option.
