Mixed Sex Housing

Deadline: February 25, 2009.

Undergraduate residents returning to Housing and who are eligible to participate in the undergraduate housing reapplication process may be considered for residency in the Mixed-Sex Housing program. The following steps must be completed:

  1. Complete the on-line Housing Application by February 25, 2009 (www.nyu.edu/housing)
  2. Complete the Mixed-Sex Housing Application (below) by February 25, 2009.
  3. Meet all Housing application and payment deadlines, including a $1000 non-refundable/non-transferable application deposit due February 27, 2009.

Please Note: Students must apply in sex balanced quads of two females and two males. Each group may submit ONE application. If you are submitting this individually (or in groups of 2), we will attempt to place these individuals/groups into a balanced quad. Once accepted into a group of four (or placed), you will be given a room selection date and time based upon your group's housing lottery priority (explained here: www.nyu.edu/housing/lottery). You will be able to select a quad that is available in the NYU Housing system at your pick time. If you do not select a quad, you will be administratively reassigned to a quad in the NYU Housing system and run the risk of having your group split up amongst multiple rooms. Please ONLY select a quad (4 person suite) that is available at your pick-time.

If we are unable to do so, you will be asked to participate in the regular Housing lottery process (outlined at www.nyu.edu/housing)

Statement of Commitment

I understand that the purpose of Mixed-Sex Housing is to allow students to be more comfortable in their living environment. I am committed to maintaining a livable environment free of discrimination and abuse. I am willing to live along with my three roommates for one full academic year (Fall & Spring semester). If any person in the room leaves Mixed-Sex Housing, I and my quad-mates will find another person to fill that vacant spot. If another person cannot be found within two weeks, I understand that our Mixed-Sex Housing suite will be unbalanced and we will be administratively moved to same sex housing. Furthermore, I am willing to participate in all research endeavors associated with the Mixed-Sex Housing program, such as surveys or focus groups.
