Room assignments are made by New York University on the basis of the legal sex of the student, which is the sex assigned to the student at birth. However, first-year students now have the option of requesting a room assignment based on gender identity, which is the gender a student identities with that may be different from the sex assigned to that student at birth. If a student selects this option, we will see to place the student in a room or suite with others of the same gender identity who have requested a room assignment on this basis, however, placement is not guaranteed. If such housing is not possible, legal sex will be used in determining housing placement in the Residential College. Please click here for more information about this option.

The Residential College Explorations Choices

Without listing your resume or bio, tell us what experiences, skills, knowledge or interests you can bring to the floor to enhance and contribute to the creation of floor community and inquiry into the theme?

Describe an event that you might plan for your floor which focuses on building community relevant to your preferred theme. The event should not cost more than $100.

Please read each of the following statements. Indicate that you have read and understand each statement by placing a checkmark in the box next to each statement.
	I understand that I must complete the housing application and meet all application and deposit deadlines to be eligible for this program and/or general University housing.
	I understand that an explorations community assignment will dictate my housing placement. The building location of each community is listed with the community description. This application voids other housing requests (except the Residential College or Choices--you may identify your application priority on this application).
	Success of programs, such as the Explorations communities, is dependent on the participation of its members. I understand that students living in Explorations communities are expected to participate in the activities facilitated by members of faculty and staff, which are scheduled approximately one to two times per month.
	I understand that every effort is made to assign students to their first choice of community, but I will be considered for every community I list as a preference. I have carefully considered the community to which you would like to be assigned and have preferenced only those communities which interest me.
	I understand there is a high demand for housing and changes in room assignment may not be considered. I understand that my Explorations community placement will be my building and floor placement.
