CHOICES

Deadline: June 2, 2008 (for first-year, incoming students)

Residential living communities where residents CHOOSE to be substance free.

This application is for all students, incoming freshmen, continuing students and transfers, who are guaranteed housing and meet all application and payment deadlines. CHOICES communities have been designated by the University as areas in which residents have a particular commitment to maintaining an environment free of alcohol and controlled substances.

CHOICES community residents will be selected based on this application process. The information you provide in this application will be kept confidential. The Selection Committee is comprised of staff of the Department of Residential Education and the Office of Health Promotion Wellness Services.

First-year students will be notified via your NYU email address by July 11, 2008. Individuals not selected for a CHOICES assignment will be assigned to other accommodation through NYU Housing's assignment process but will remain on the Waiting List for a CHOICES community vacancy, should one become available during the academic year.

For more information regarding the CHOICES communities, please contact Residential Education at residential.education@nyu.edu. For general housing related questions, please contact University Housing at 212-998-4600.

Important Housing Notice:
You must be eligible for housing and have submitted a housing application for this year, available on the NYU Housing website, before you can complete this CHOICES application.

CHOICES 2008-2009 Application

New and Transfer Students intending to live on campus in 2008-2009
The application deadline will be May 25, 2008

Room assignments are made by New York University on the basis of the legal sex of the student, which is the sex assigned to the student at birth. However, students now have the option of requesting a room assignment based on gender identity, which is the gender a student identities with that may be different from the sex assigned to that student at birth. If a student selects this option, we will see to place the student in a room or suite with others of the same gender identity who have requested a room assignment on this basis, however, placement is not guaranteed. If such housing is not possible, legal sex will be used in determining housing placement in the Residential College. Please click here for more information about this option.

If you wish to be assigned based upon your legal sex, DO NOT make a preference change here.
