Mixed-sex housing enables students (with the exception of incoming first-year students) to live with fellow students of the opposite sex. Interested students who complete a brief application and agreement form, will have the opportunity to live in an apartment style suite; two female and two male students per suite (two bedrooms in each suite). New for 2009, Mixed-sex will not be housed in any one specific residence hall. Instead, a group of four Mixed-sex applicants, as defined by two female and two male students, will have the opportunity to choose any two bedroom quad suite available to them at their group pick time in an upper class Residence Hall. Mixed-sex applicants will make this choice concurrent with the NYU lottery timeline and the pick time will be based upon the applicants' lottery priority.
- A group of four, accepted Mixed-sex applicants, may only choose an available two bedroom, quad suite in the NYU Housing system.
- Not applying with any roommates? Or just one? Residential Education will gladly connect students, who are accepted to Mixed-sex, in order to build a group of four.
- Interested students will be required to complete a brief application that will be available beginning February 11, 2009 and must be submitted by February 25, 2009. Applicants will be selected by a committee comprised of professional staff from the Department of Residential Education.
- Applicants will need to fulfill all requirements for the housing re-application process, including payment of the housing re-application fee, to be eligible for mixed-sex housing. Detailed information regarding these requirements is available on the housing website.
- A Mixed-Sex Housing information session will be held on in the University Hall Commons on Wednesday, February 18th at 8:00 PM. During this session, potential applicants will have the opportunity to ask administrators questions about the option, as well as meet other students who are interested in living in mixed-sex housing and who may be seeking additional roommates. - Individuals not selected for a Mixed-Sex Housing assignment will be asked to take part in the housing lottery system (please find complete details on the NYU Housing website).
