Welcome...

...to the Department of Residential Education website. In your tour of our site, we hope that you find valuable information about the programs and experiences offered through our Department.

The Department of Residential Education fosters a safe, supportive, and inclusive community that strives to develop educated and engaged citizens of a global society. Our residence halls offer structured and informal opportunities for students, staff, and faculty to learn from one another while utilizing the unique environment and resources of New York City.

Over the past three years, New York University has added many resources to the on-campus living environment through increasing the numbers of Faculty-in-Residence and Faculty Affiliates, lowering the RA to student ratio, creating a Peer Educator Position, and expanding the number of Explorations themed floors. All of these enhancements are a testament to our commitment to community.

Living in New York City, the most exciting and diverse city in the world, students are provided with a rich landscape that offers an unparalleled learning experience. During a student's time at NYU, we hope that they are able to further refine their long-term aspirations, while creating meaningful memories and lifetime friends.

Our professional staff, with the support of the Resident Assistants and Peer Educators, is committed to the development of each resident, and are there to assist students in becoming as knowledgeable of the resources of NYU and NYC as much as possible.

We look forward to your involvement at NYU and active engagement in our programs.

Sincerely,
Tom Ellett, PhD
Assistant Vice President
