With the new development of our department, we are accomplishing a variety of initiatives, and new programs on a very regular basis. We would like to take this opportunity to highlight some our most excellent successes:
- Development of the FYRE Program
- Development of the RALI Program
- Development of the RISE Program
- Development of The Next Step, a diversity and social justice training day for student leaders
- Explorations
- Faculty Fellows in Residence in 8 Halls
- Many Wellness Initiatives:
- Crisis Response Coordinators (CRCs): They respond to urgent and emergency situations with students and provide counseling and crisis intervention for sexual assaults and mental health situations. Available 24/7, CRCs can be assist by coming to the scene of a situation to provide a mental health risk assessment, as well as escort a student to the hospital. (Available for students through the Public Safety Desk/RA on Duty in the residence hall).
- Counselors in Residence: Available 7 nights a week for walk-in counseling in various residences.
- LINK: educational marketing campaign designed to help students recognize their own stressors and the stressors of others and to help connect people to our wellness services at NYU
- B.A.S.E.: Bridging Academic and Social Experiences. BASE is an initiative utilized by the Resident Assistant Staff to promote academic and social development of residents. RAs are trained to engage with their residents about various topics relating to academics, study habits, grades, to going out, socializing, and wellness. This is a tool we use and have found extremely helpful in making sure that every resident receives interaction with someone in our department.
- Peer Educators in 7 of our residence halls:http://www.nyu.edu/student.affairs/peer.ed/
- Establishment of NRHH Chapter
- Changes in the Lottery Process
- State-of-the-Art Technology Center for Resident Assistants and Staff in Weinstein Hall
