WHAT:
NYU School of Law will host a two-day conference entitled, "The Turn to Scholarship," which showcases the scholarly excellence of the Law School's doctoral candidates. The event also serves as an important forum for dialogue between young scholars and leading academic figures in their fields of research.
The conference is divided into four interdisciplinary panels: International Law; Law and Economics; Law and Gender; and Law and Social Change. In each panel, NYU Law's doctoral candidates present their papers and distinguished faculty lead the discussion as commentators and moderators.
One of the conference highlights include guest speaker, Harvard Law School Professor Janet Halley, who will offer a presentation entitled, "Split Decisions: Theories of Sex and Power in Legal Thought and Action" on Saturday, January 31, 9 AM. Prof. Halley is one of the leading scholars in the field of critical legal studies, feminist legal theory and queer theory.
