The New York University School of Law graduates who are partners of Sullivan & Cromwell have doubled the size of the Sullivan & Cromwell Public Interest Scholarship Fund so that the Fund now exceeds $1 million.
"How gratifying that all 16 of our NYU School of Law graduates who are partners at Sullivan & Cromwell, one of America's oldest and most distinguished law firms, have found such a meaningful way to assist the institution that educated them," said Richard Revesz, Dean of NYU School of Law.
The Sullivan & Cromwell Public Interest Scholarship will fund students in the NYU Law School's Root-Tilden-Kern Public Service Scholarship program, the nation's preeminent scholarship program for law students desiring careers in public and community service. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the scholarship and the culmination of a successful $30 million campaign launched by Dean Revesz.
"I hope Sullivan & Cromwell's partners' beneficence will serve as a model and inspiration to other law firms. Law Schools simply cannot do it all by themselves," said Dean Revesz.
Sullivan & Cromwell partner Bill Williams, a member of the class of '61 and the NYU School of Law Foundation Board, echoed similar thoughts. "Law firm partners have a responsibility to support their law school's financial aid programs, particularly in the areas of tremendous need such as public interest law. My hope is that partners in other law firms will evaluate their giving philosophy and give where it will do the most good. That's the core message of our gift to NYU Law School."
Founded in 1879, Sullivan & Cromwell has approximately 700 lawyers, including 157 partners. The firm has offices in New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Palo Alto, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Beijing, Melbourne and Sydney.
