28 law schools to promote the hiring of more than 700 foreign-trained law students

Legal employers worldwide will participate in the “13th Annual International Student Interview Program” to be held at the NYU School of Law on Friday, January 29. The one-day program brings together more than 700 foreign-trained law students with more than 120 employers with positions in approximately 35 countries, including the U.S.

The program is a cooperative association of 28 law schools that promotes and facilitates the efficient hiring of foreign-trained lawyers and targets graduate students (LL.M., M.C.J. and M.C.L.) with foreign law degrees who are enrolled as full-time students at one of the participating law schools.

This year’s participating law schools are American University, Boston University, Brigham Young University, UC Berkeley-Boalt, Chicago-Kent, University of Connecticut, Cornell, Duke University, University of Florida, Fordham University, Georgetown University, George Washington University, University of Georgia, University of Houston, University of Illinois, Indiana University, McGeorge, University of Miami, University of Minnesota, New York University, Northwestern University, University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania State University - Dickinson, University of San Diego, Southern Methodist University, Temple University, Tulane, and UCLA.

Key facts about the program:

Participating employers have grown from 27 in 1987 to more than 107 in 1999.

Participating law schools have grown from 7 in 1987 to 28 in 1999.

Internship/Foreign Associate positions available (typically 6-12 month positions) in 1999 is 118.

Regular Associate positions available in 1999 is 337.
