NYU Medical Center Changes Name to Honor Chairman of Board & Wife
New York, April 16, 2008- NYU Medical Center today announced it will be renamed the NYU Elaine A. and Kenneth G. Langone Medical Center, in honor of the chairman of its board of trustees and his wife, whose unrestricted $200 million gift is the largest in the Medical Center’s history. Read more »
First Group Selected as Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed University Scholars
Seventeen men and women have been named as the inaugural class of the “Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed University Scholars Program,” which recognizes outstanding students in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and provides them with special academic and leadership opportunities. The Scholars program — named after His Highness, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi - is a major initiative of the NYU Abu Dhabi Institute, which will be established in the fall of 2008 to jump-start academic and intellectual activities while the NYU Abu Dhabi campus is being developed. NYU's Richard Sennett Wins International Henkel Prize for Scholarship in Historical Humanities
New York University Professor Richard Sennett has been named the winner of the 2008 Gerda Henkel Prize, which recognizes outstanding scholarly achievement in the historical humanities. The prize includes a cash award of 100,000 euros ($160,000) and is given every two years by the Gerda Henkel Foundation in Düsseldorf, Germany. Read more »
