Hartry Field, a University Professor and Silver Professor of Philosophy at New York University, will deliver “Revising Our Logic” on Wednesday, October 21, 6 p.m. at NYU’s Hemmerdinger Hall, Silver Center (100 Washington Square East [at Washington Place]).

Field will discuss the relationship among three topics: paradoxes involving truth and related notions, and why these are of importance to broader philosophical concerns; how we might come to rationally revise our most basic logic; and, the nature of logic.
Field’s areas of expertise include metaphysics, philosophy of mathematics and philosophy of logic. He is the author of Saving Truth from Paradox; Truth and the Absence of Fact; Realism, Mathematics and Modality; and Science Without Numbers, which won the Lakatos Prize.
