Polytechnic Institute of NYU will host a day-long forum, “Image and Imagination: The Science, Engineering, and Aesthetics of Imaging,” on Fri., Oct. 24, 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m., at the institute’s Brooklyn campus (Wunsch Building, Six MetroTech Center). Subways: A, C, F (Jay St.-Borough Hall); 2, 3, 4, 5 (Borough Hall); M, R (Lawrence Street-MetroTech); Q, B (DeKalb Ave.)
The forum will highlight work by investigators from NYU’s various schools and colleges as well as from the Polytechnic Institute, and will address five topical areas in imaging research and creative application. Sessions include the following: “The Eye and the Brain: Vision and Its Analogues”; “Imaging Physics”; “Bytes, Flops, and Voxels: The Lifecycle of Image Data”; “The Picture of Health: Biomedical Imaging”; and “The Eye and the Mind: Visual Arts and the Creative Process”. In addition to oral presentations highlighting the work of faculty, panel discussions will be held after each session to explore unsolved problems, unmet needs, and opportunities for scholarly collaboration.
