"How A.I.R. Changed the Art World" Panel at NYU's Fales Library, Sept. 16

“How A.I.R. Changed the Art World: Feminist Intervention over 37 Years” will be the focus of a panel discussion at New York University’s Fales Library, 3rd floor of the NYU Bobst Library, 70 Washington Square South, on Tuesday, September 16, at 6 p.m.. The event opens a new exhibition on display at Fales’ Tracey/Barry Gallery, “A.I.R. Gallery: The History Show - Archival Materials from 1972 to the Present.” Both the panel discussion and exhibition, which is on display through December 12, 2008, are free and open to the public. Participants in the panel discussion include: painter and A.I.R. founding member Dotty Attie; art journalist and playwright Carey Lovelace; Corinne Robins, art critic and poet; the multidisciplinary artist Carolee Schneemann; and artist Joan Snitzer.
A.I.R. Gallery was founded in 1972 as the first artist-run, not-for-profit gallery for women artists in the United States. Its mission is to advance the status of women artists by exhibiting quality work by a diverse group of women artists and to provide leadership and community to women artists.
