n-470, 2007-08
On Wednesday, May 28, 2008, the NYU Wagner Health Policy and Management Program presents “An Evening with Julie Salamon and Pam Brier,” centered on Salamon’s just-published book about a year in the life of Maimonides Medical Center in New York City, where Brier is CEO.
The book, published by The Penguin Press HC, is called HOSPITAL: Man, Woman, Birth, Death, Infinity, Plus Red Tape, Bad Behavior, Money, God and Diversity on Steroids. Through extensive interviews, observations, and social criticism, the author creates a revealing picture of how medical care is delivered at Maimonides - and in America today - describing the complicated struggles and issues in play.
The event will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, The Puck Building, 295 Lafayette Street (@ Houston), 2nd Floor.

NYU Wagner’s Health Policy and Management program has been recognized as the best in the country. Located in a school of public service rather than in a medical or public health school, the program crosses traditional boundaries, linking management, finance, and policy, and provides students with the cutting-edge concepts and skills needed to shape the future of health policy and management. Students graduate with a set of tools and experiences that allow them to understand both the delivery of health care services and the broader social, cultural, and economic factors that influence health outcomes. They work in every sector of the health care system, and experience firsthand the importance of health care delivery and health promotion in one of the most interesting, diverse, and complex cities in the world. http://wagner.nyu.edu/health/
