The NYU Wagner Criminal Justice Student Group, the Students of African Descent Alliance, and the Correctional Association of New York will host a discussion Thursday, April 17, entitled “Prisons, Police, Race, and the War on Drugs.” The event will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University, The Rudin Family Forum for Civic Dialogue, The Puck Building, 2nd Floor, 295 Lafayette Street (@ Houston), Manhattan.

Join leading academicians, activists, political figures and lawyers in the discussion about a critical, oft-neglected public policy issue of the day: How police, prosecutorial and prison related practices lead to the dramatically disproportionate confinement of poor people of color.

Aubry, Assembly Member and Chair, NYS Assembly Committee on Correction; Kamau Karl Franklin, Racial Justice Fellow, the Center for Constitutional Rights, and Co-Chair, the National Conference of Black Lawyers; Robert Gangi, Executive Director, the Correctional Association of New York; Dennis Smith, Associate Professor of Public Policy, NYU Wagner; and Mary Porter (moderator), Lecturer in Public Administration and Assistant Dean, NYU Wagner, and former Prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
