WHAT: New York University’s Center for Catastrophe Preparedness and Response and the Center on Violence and Recovery will present the groundbreaking results of a three-year study on NYPD peer support programs, and the role of such programs in mitigating post-traumatic adjustment among officers.
WHEN: Wednesday, April 16, at 9 a.m.
WHERE: NYU’s Lipton Hall, D’Agostino Hall, 110 W. 3rd St. at MacDougal St.
WHO: A panel of national scholars, NYPD officers, and peer counselors will discuss the results of the study as well as their own personal experiences in seeking/providing help. NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly will give opening remarks.
The Center for Catastrophe Preparedness and Response at NYU was founded in 2002 as a university-wide, cross-disciplinary center to improve preparedness and response capabilities to catastrophic events, including terrorism, natural disasters, and public health emergencies. The Center on Violence and Recovery at NYU is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing knowledge on the causes of violence and trauma and developing innovative solutions that promote healing among individuals, families, and communities.
