Hans Blix, who headed the United Nations’ Monitoring, Verification, and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) for Iraq from 2000 to 2003, will deliver a public lecture-“Time for a Revival of Disarmament?”-on Wed., April 9, 6:30 p.m., at New York University (19 W. 4th St., at Mercer St.).

The lecture, sponsored by NYU’s Center on International Cooperation, is free and open to the public. RSVP to 212.998.3688 or ms4387@nyu.edu. Subways: 6 (Astor Place); R, W (8th Street). Blix will be introduced by Sergio Duarte, the United Nations High Representative for Disarmament Affairs.

Blix, who currently chairs the independent international Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission (WMDC), is the author of forthcoming Why Nuclear Disarmament Matters (Boston Review Books). A book signing will follow the lecture. Blix’s published works also include Disarming Iraq (Pantheon, 2004).
