NYU’s Issues in Technology Management Series Features Verizon Executive Kheradpir, Feb. 6

New York University’s “Issues in Technology Management” lecture series, offered by NYU Stern School of Business, NYU’s College of Arts and Science, and NYU’s Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, will feature Shaygan Kheradpir, executive vice president and chief information officer, Verizon Communications on Wed., Feb. 6, 6 p.m. at NYU’s Silver Center, 100 Washington Square East, Room 1003 (10th Floor). The event, in collaboration with the Department of Management at Brooklyn’s Polytechnic University, is free and open to the public. The series is organized by Paul Horn, who led IBM’s research division for more than decade and who is a Distinguished Scientist in Residence at NYU.
Shaygan Kheradpir, who holds a doctorate in electrical engineering from Cornell University, is responsible for the information technology initiatives of all Verizon’s business units.
Prior to assuming his present responsibilities on Jan. 1, 2007, Kheradpir was senior vice president and chief information officer for Verizon Telecom, overseeing all of the information technology initiatives for the company’s wireline communications unit. Kheradpir led technology development and innovation for key Verizon initiatives, including developing and implementing the systems supporting the rollout of Verizon’s all-fiber network and the FiOS broadband voice and TV services provided over that network.
In 2007, CIO Magazine named Kheradpir a distinguished member of the CIO Hall of Fame for significant contributions to business and society through leadership in information technology. Kheradpir is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engineers, and in 1996 the National Academy of Engineers selected him as one of the nation’s 85 outstanding young engineers. He has written more than 20 journal papers and holds several U.S. patents.
