NYU’s Maison Française Hosts Special Events in January

On Tuesday, January 29, at 7 p.m., biographer Anka Muhlstein will discuss “Napoleon and the Burning of Moscow.” Muhlstein is the author of Napoléon à Moscou; Astolphe de Custine, le dernier marquis; and Elisabeth d’Angleterre et Marie Stuart ou les périls du mariage.
On Wednesday, January 30, at 6:30 p.m., University of Paris sociologist Pierre Bouvier will speak on “Les Antilles entre negritude et transnational: Aimé Césaire/Frantz Fanon.” Bouvier is the author of Le Lien social and Frantz Fanon. This is an Institute of French Studies colloquium; the event is in French.
On Thursday, January 31, at 7 p.m., Kareen Rispal, cultural counselor of the French Embassy, will deliver a lecture entitled “La Diplomatie culturelle” in French.
