“PoeMotion II: The Sights & Sounds of Edgar Allan Poe” at NYU, Nov. 26

Many artists have adapted Edgar Allan Poe’s masterpieces over the years into varied art forms - music, stage productions, films, and even cartoons. The legendary 19th-century author’s life and works continues to inspire young artists today. On Monday, November 26, at 7 p.m., New York University students artists from the Tisch School of the Arts and the Gallatin School of Individualized Study present a special cabaret event, “PoeMotion II: The Sights & Sounds of Edgar Allan Poe.” This event follows their first successful “Poe cabaret” held in spring 2007. Free and open to the public, it takes place at the NYU Kimmel Center, Shorin Auditorium (room 802), 60 Washington Square South (at LaGuardia Place). The cabaret will feature original pieces, including dance, drama, music, and animation, to illuminate Poe’s masterful poetics, arresting images, and the lingering legacy of his own mysterious life.
