
Marc L. Wais was appointed Vice President for Student Affairs in April 2003.
As Vice President for Student Affairs, Wais is concerned with the quality of life for students in and out of the classroom. He manages programs and staff in residential life, health and counseling services, athletics and recreation, judicial affairs, and the following units within student life: Office of African American, Latino, and Asian American Student Services; Moses Center for Students with Disabilities; Office of Student Activities; Office of Career Services; Office of International Students and Scholars; Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Students; Student Resource Center; and student programming for the newly constructed Kimmel Center for University Life.
Previously, Wais served as the Dean of Students at Stanford University, where he also acted as a Resident Fellow for eight years as well as a University Fellow. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs at University of Maryland at Baltimore from 1992-95 and as the Dean of Students at Fairleigh Dickinson University from 1989-1992. He was also a guest lecturer at Stanford University's Graduate School of Education and served as an instructor at other schools along the east coast.
He has received various grants, including a Health Career Opportunities Program (HCOP) Grant from the U.S. Department of Education to attract and recruit young African-Americans to a career in the health professions. In addition to writing for various educational publications, Dr. Wais has traveled to various locations in the United States presenting at higher education conferences, including COFHE Academic and Student Officers Annual Conference, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrations, and the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity (NCORE).
Wais received his B.S. from Fairleigh Dickinson University, an M.B.A. from The University of Miami, a M.A. from George Washington University, and ED.D from Harvard University.
