Carolyn Sargent will head the new office of Faculty Housing Programs, and reports to the Provost and the Executive Vice President. She will lead efforts to develop the mission, resource and staffing capability, communications, and strategic plan for the office. The reality of the vagaries, complexities, and high cost of the New York metropolitan area housing market adds to the challenge of providing reasonable and attractive housing options for members of our faculty. Housing programs have an institutional impact. The University's academic mission depends in large part on the success or failure of the rental and purchase housing programs as they relate to University efforts to attract and retain outstanding faculty. Carolyn's role will affect the more than 1500 faculty and staff members housed in University facilities, and many other faculty who may take advantage of new and innovative housing assistance purchase programs that she will work to create and implement. Her position also includes a key role as liaison to the deans of the 13 schools.
Carolyn Sargent comes to NYU from Stanford University where she has been Director of Faculty Staff Housing for the past ten years. Along with a staff of nine, she oversaw Stanford's varied faculty housing programs.
