Terrance J. Nolan, B.A., J.D., LL.M., Acting General Counsel and Director of Labor Relations at New York University

In August, 2007, Mr. Nolan was named Acting General Counsel of New York University. Mr. Nolan has been with New York University since 1980 and has extensive experience in the law of higher education, labor relations, civil litigation, and the entire range of employment law and human resources issues.

From 1977 to 1980, Mr. Nolan was a Labor Relations Specialist for the Pepsi-Cola Company in Purchase, New York, where he was responsible for labor arbitration, collective bargaining and NLRB matters throughout the United States.

Prior to that, he served as counsel for the New York City Transit Authority, handling labor, employment, constitutional, administrative and environmental litigation.

He is a certified Mediator for the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York and a member of the Panel of Arbitrators for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.

Mr. Nolan received a B.A. from St. Francis College (NY), a J.D. from St. John's University and an LL.M. in Labor Law from New York University. He is a member of the adjunct faculty at New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development, teaching the course Higher Education and the Law.
