Suzanne England joined New York University as Dean of the School of Social Work in November 2001. As Dean, she oversees a school which offers a comprehensive social work education with a concentration in clinical social work. The School offers flexible degree programs at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral level.

England came to the School from Tulane University in New Orleans where she was dean of the School of Social Work. Prior to Tulane, she held several administrative positions at the University of Illinois at Chicago, including interim associate dean for academic affairs of the College of Associate Health Professions.

A respected teacher and administrator, England has been published widely in journals of social work and health services. She is the author of the book, Wages for Caring(1992), an analysis of policies to compensate family care giving of the disabled elderly. Her primary research focuses on social policy and family care giving.

England received her M.S.W. and Ph.D. from the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She earned her M.B.A. from Tulane's A.B. Freeman School of Business.
