The heart of Arts & Science is our faculty, which closely links undergraduate and graduate education with training and research. The NYU College of Dentistry has built a remarkable cadre of faculty devoted to providing students with the full range of clinical and basic science training in order to prepare them for key roles in our nation's healthcare system. NYUCD faculty are also making dramatic progress as researchers in a number of areas, including engineering artificial muscle, minimizing the devastating effects of oral cancer, revealing novel targets in programmed cell death, designing and testing dental implants, and reducing oral health disparities.

The Institute of Fine Arts is dedicated to graduate teaching and advanced research in the history of art, archaeology, and the conservation and technology of works of art. The Institute offers the degrees of Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy, the Advanced Certificate in Conservation of Works of Art for those M.A. students choosing to specialize in Conservation, and the Certificate in Curatorial Studies issued jointly with the Metropolitan Museum of Art as part of the Ph.D. program.

A law school builds its reputation on the excellence of its faculty, and New York University School of Law's faculty has received wide recognition for the quality of both its scholarship and its pedagogy. NYU Law's full-time faculty is made up of more than 100 professors, deans, and librarians who have come to the Law School from all types of private practice, the bench, policy-making and advisory positions in government, business and industry, the nonprofit sector, and the faculty of other law schools.

Departments and programs offering professional training are acting, dance, design, drama, performance studies, film and television, cinema studies, photography and imaging, dramatic writing, musical theatre writing, recorded music, and interactive telecommunications.
