Senior Vice Provost; Special Advisor for Science and Technology to the Vice Chancellor of NYU Abu Dhabi

K.R. Sreenivasan, Ph.D.

Katepalli R. Sreenivasan (Sreeni) comes to NYU from the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (Trieste, Italy) where he has been Director, and the University of Maryland, where he was Distinguished University Professor and Professor of Physics and Engineering, and Director of the Institute for Physical Science and Technology. Sreeni is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Working closely with the senior leadership of NYUNY and NYUAD, Sreeni will play a significant role in the planning and development of NYU as a Global Network University. He will lead the science and technology research efforts located in the NYUAD Institute, and will work with NYUAD leadership in the recruitment of faculty for NYUAD. An active researcher, Sreeni will continue his work in turbulence, complex fluids, cryogenic helium and nonlinear dynamics, and will have joint appointments in Physics and Mathematics.
