Associate Vice Provost for Academic Initiatives and University Life

Nancy Morrison is the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Initiatives and University Life. Nancy liaisons with experts in each of NYU's distinctive schools to enhance and support a number of academic initiatives that are University-wide endeavors. She is leading the University's efforts to provide Winter and Spring Intensives that will maximize two of NYU's greatest resources, faculty and location. These innovative and flexible Intensive academic opportunities will enrich the educational experience of our matriculated students, as well as our community, alumni and visiting students. These efforts will also be implemented at global sites, increasing the flexibility and opportunities our students have to learn by going abroad. Similarly, Nancy is working to further develop the Spring in New York program, a unique opportunity that allows students from other Universities to come to NYU for its superb academics that are uniquely in and of the city. Nancy works with undergraduate academic advising experts to facilitate advising accessibility, provide opportunities for enhancing training and working to create new options for minors. Finally, she is working to integrate and further develop University support for our diverse undergraduate academic scholars.

Among Nancy's responsibilities for University life, she will be developing the University's first Chaplaincy, collaborating with educators across campus to enhance dialogue opportunities around diversity in our global world, and represents student life interests in campus planning. Nancy Morrison assumed this role in the summer of 2007, after serving as Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs at NYU for the past three years. She came to NYU from Stanford's Dean of Students office, where she was an Assistant Dean of Students for five years. Nancy received her doctorate in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania.
