As Assistant Vice Provost for Academic Initiatives, Dr. Naomi Diamant provides leadership for the planning, development and coordination of new academic programs and initiatives that develop in the Office of the Provost. Working in partnership with each of the schools, the Office of Global Programs, and administrative units, Naomi oversees the continued development and coordination for Winter Session, May Intensives, Spring in New York (SNY), Summer Academic Planning, the integration of the Global Network University and other academic initiatives.

Dr. Diamant has been at NYU for nearly nine years. Prior to her appointment as Assistant Vice Provost, she worked at the Faculty Resource Network and, more recently, in the Stern School of Business where she worked closely with Dean Thomas Cooley and served as a member of the School’s leadership team. She has extensive experience of the higher education environment, first as a researcher and faculty member, and then in academic administration. Naomi has worked on program administration and development at the FRN. At Stern, she has served on a number of important schoolwide task forces, focused on such areas as strategic planning, global strategy development, marketing strategy and more. Prior to joining NYU, Naomi served as Director of Graduate Admissions at the Jewish Theological Seminary. She was a faculty member at the University of Illinois, Chicago, where she established a Jewish Studies program. She received her MA from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and her PhD in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University, where she was selected as a post-doctoral scholar at the Heyman Center for the Humanities. She has an active research agenda in areas related to Holocaust literature, testimony, and public memory.
