Mary M. Brabeck, B.A., M.S., PH.D.

As dean, Brabeck supports and oversees 12 academic departments consisting of more than 6,700 students and 250 faculty. Brabeck also holds the rank of Professor in the Steinhardt Department of Applied Psychology and teaches graduate and undergraduate classes.

A leader in the field of educational and developmental psychology, Brabeck was previously dean of the Boston College Lynch School of Education from 1996-2003, and a professor of counseling and developmental psychology at Boston College since 1980.

She currently serves on the American Psychological Association's (APA) Board of Educational Affairs, Standing Hearing Panel of the Ethics Committee. She served as Chair of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (AACTE) from 2004-2005, a member of the Holmes Partnership Board of Directors. Brabeck is a licensed psychologist, APA accreditation site visit chair, and fellow of APA (Divisions 7, 35 and 52), Brabeck has published more than 80 book chapters and journal articles.

She is an editorial board member of the Journal of Moral Education, New Ideas in Psychology, and the Journal of School Choice, and the editor of the Society of Psychology of Women Book Series. Brabeck is a member of the Carnegie Corporation’s Teachers for a New Era Research Coordinating Council. Brabeck was the recipient of the Boston Higher Education Partnership's Service Award, the Association for Moral Education's Kuhmerker Award, and an award for teaching excellence from Boston College's School of Education. She is an honorary member of the Golden Key Honor Society, and the Alpha Sigma Nu-Jesuit Honor Society.

Brabeck received her B.A. from the University of Minnesota, her M.A. from Saint Cloud State University, and her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.
