nor the most intelligent; it is the one that is
most adaptable to change. -Charles Darwin
OOZ brings up the fundamental question and design challenge: how do you design an environment in which humans and animals cohabit?
Rather than quote figures of the amount and rate of habitat destruction, how do we construct habitat for both humans and animals? How do we ensure a quality of life sufficient that animals will want to stay (without cages and confinement) and interact with people, that is at the same time satisfying for humans? How do we allow and learn from the autonomy of animals, in other words, how do we exploit their information value? How do we recognize their intelligence? Can we know why they stay, and what is it that drives them away? How can we translate, and keep translating so that we might learn a thing or two?
