TOWARD A DIALECTICAL LIBERTARIANISM
ROBERT HIGGS, THE BEACON: INDEPENDENT INSTITUTE BLOG (29 DECEMBER 2009; 3:18 PM PST).
In his survey of the "Thirteen Outstanding Books of the Past Decade," Robert Higgs places Sciabarra's Total Freedom as Number 3 in a chronological list of the Top Thirteen books of the first decade of the 2000s. He writes:
"Chris Matthew Sciabarra, Total Freedom: Toward a Dialectical Libertarianism (University Park, Pa.: Pennsylvania State University Press, 2000). Sciabarra's deeply-learned book ranges from Aristotle to Murray Rothbard. If you think of dialectics as grist only for block-headed Hegelians and other odd ducks, this book will change your mind. The greater part of it is given over to what is arguably the most sophisticated analysis ever made of Rothbard's oeuvre."
