Studios

Music Technology maintains twelve recording and computer music studios, including two multiple-format recording suites, Macintosh and Windows based computer music laboratories, an AV and film music editing studio with video projection and THX surround sound systems, an analog synthesis studio, a video digitizing and DVD authoring studio, two research and development facilities. The studios include nine ProTools systems, three Sonic Solutions systems and seven surround-sound systems, as well as multiple audio and video dubbing stations. The studios are all wired with 100 Megabit network connections, facilitating Internet-2 projects.

The Music Technology Program has taken a leading position in interactive music software implemented on personal computers and digital audio platforms. Students can learn programming using C or Java or in graphic environments such as Max/MSP. Sophisticated synthesis possibilities may be realized through real-time digital signal processing, SMPTE handling, software synthesis such as Csound, Jsyn/JMSL, PD, and an extensive collection of sampling, effects and synthesis modules.
