Dr. Kenneth Peacock, a musicologist, technologist, and expert in such diverse fields as Scriabin and synaesthesia, has led the Music Technology Program to its current position as a focal point for musical activity in the department.

Dr. Robert Rowe - Associate Director

Dr. Robert Rowe is a graduate of the MIT Media Laboratory and author of the books Machine Musicianship and Interactive Music Systems. He has introduced the biannual Interactive Arts Performance Series, which unites computers, video, music, and other arts in live performance.

Dr. Mary Farbood

mfarbood[at]nyu[dot]edu

Dr. Farbood's research encompasses topics in music theory and cognition, computational modeling of music, and computer-assisted/algorithmic composition systems. She completed her Ph.D. at the MIT Media Lab in 2006. Prior to that, she received a B.A. in music from Harvard and spent two years as Ph.D. student in composition and theory at Brandeis. Dr. Farbood also performs professionally as a harpsichordist and enjoys playing both early music and new music.
