Music Technology Research at NYU is concerned with the development of technological tools for the analysis, creation, recording, performing, teaching, editing, and dissemination of music. Our work, as well as the background of our researchers, is interdisciplinary, using knowledge from fields as diverse as acoustics, cognition, mathematics, computer science, music theory, and electronics. Our aim is to create a vivacious environment where artistic and scientific innovation is possible.
Some of our areas of interest include (but are not limited to): immersive sound, interactive music system, technological tools for music composition and education, acoustic measurements, remote music collaborations, machine listening, music information retrieval and digital audio effects.
