Grade Level: 6^th Grade Life Science

Learning Objective: Students will be able to compare and contrast three kinds of birds.

Materials: Students should have a pen, paper, handout sheet, and a life science textbook

Do now: What do you know about birds?

Concept mapping (accept all answers)

Motivation: Have the students research the special design of a bird that makes them well adapted for flight.

Presentation: Place students into groups of four. Each group will investigate the birds at the wildlife center.

Challenge activity:

Guided Practice:

The groups will reconvene at school to compare and contrast the birds they've investigated. Each group will describe the bird that interested them.

Homework:

The students will write a report on the bird that interested them.
