TOPICS COVERED
Measuring the Earth. (Extent of the lithosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere)
Dynamics of the earth. (Earthquakes and Volcanoes)
The Formation of Rocks (The Rock Cycle)

PRE VISIT

PURPOSE
How can we use Gottesman Hall of Planet Earth to gain a knowledge of the earth phenomena that involves the components air, water, and land?

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
Explain how the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere interact evolve and change; Describe volcano and earthquake patterns; Explain the rock and water cycles; Describe current theories about the origin of the earth;

MATERIALS REQUIRED
Pen, paper, Exhibition guide with set of questions for the tour from the museum, News articles, books on topics to be studied, and clipboard.

STUDENTS LEARNING PREREQUISITES
Read Books and Newspaper articles.  Answer the following questions: How was the earth evolved? How do scientist read rocks? Why are there ocean basins, continents, and mountains? What causes climate and climate changes? Why is the earth habitable?

VISIT
Assign students ingroups of four.  Introduction to the Hall of Planet Earth.  Guided tour in the Hall of Planet Earth using the exhibition guide with questions.  Internet Resources, Question and answer.

POST VISIT
Assessment: Have students do research on topics covered and bring in information on each. Have students explain each topic in the form of a report.
