HTML tags
You cannot use HTML tags in any field except the body of the message.
Colons in the message
Colons appear in the message dialog box when you try to followup on a message to indicate that those lines are quoting the previous document.
If your post fails to show up
The most likely reason that a post fails to show up is because your browser did not reload the page but simply pulled it out of cache. Please RELOAD the page into your browser; your post should appear.
