Various sequencing chemistries are currently used at the GAF.  For more information about any of these topics, click the link.  (Please note that these links are offsite; please use your browser's Back button/option to return to this page.)

  • Big Dye Terminator chemistry
Recommended for most applications, including the sequencing of plasmid clones using your own sequencing primers.

  • dRhodamine Dye Terminator chemistry
An excellent alternative for most applications (and may be less expensive than the BigDye chemistry).

  • Big Dye Primer chemistry
Recommended only for the sequencing of PCR products, especially where polymorphisms (e.g., due to heterozygosity) need to be detected.

  • Gene Scan chemistries
Recommended only for detection and measurement of PCR product lengths and length polymorphisms.

  • Additional alternatives
Includes older technologies not as highly recommended.  Please contact us if you need to use one of these alternatives so we can set up the appropriate matrix on the machine.
