Strain Isolation Pierre Baujard, August, 1991
Nebe, Senegal. Sahel zone, central Senegal, 5 km south of Diourbel along road
Diourbel-Gossas.
Soil.
Culture Notes 20-25C (no lower than 20C) on 1.5% pure agar (with or without 0.1% nutrient agar)
with 5 mg/ml cholesterol, seeded with E. coli.. Currently kept on "wet plates"
(1% agar, 5 mg/ml cholesterol, 5 ml 50 mM phosphate buffer at pH 7.3, seeded with E. coli).
Autotokous.
Cryopreservation Fails to survive freezing by C. elegans protocol.
Can be stored 6-12 months on slowly dessicated plates.
