"Caenorhabditis vulgariensis", subsequently emended to "C. vulgaris",
the name under which this strain was described by Baird, Fitch & Emmons,
1994).


Subgenus status for vulgaris has not been officially published. Sudhaus & Kiontke, 1996, synonymized C. vulgaris with C. remanei using crosses with C. remanei newly isolated from the type location.
