 The NYU Parents' Committee is an important facet of the University's ongoing efforts to build and strengthen our relationships with the greater NYU community. The Committee is comprised of parents of undergraduate students in the College of Arts and Science, the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, the Tisch School of the Arts, the Leonard N. Stern School of Business Undergraduate division, the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, the NYU School of Social Work, the Gallatin School for Individualized Study, and the General Studies Program.
From time to time, parents of recent graduates or of graduate students also serve on this committee.
The Committee meets once each semester and also co-hosts the President's Reception at the October Parents Program for freshmen and transfer students. At the fall and spring meetings, the committee meets with a senior University administrator and has the opportunity to dialogue about critical topics that impact on student life.
Members of the committee assist and advise the University in strategies for engaging parents, and play important roles as University volunteers. Committee members are also encouraged to host occasional events, identify ways to engage other parents, and provide leadership and financial support to help increase participation in the Parents Fund.
