WELCOME NYU PARENTS!
Going to college is an exciting time for students and parents. As
a parent, you can support your student by being involved and supportive,
and empowering him to make new friends, stay on top of her coursework,
and utilize University resources. You can also provide support
by directing your student to a variety of University resources
when she needs them, and encouraging him to reach out for assistance. This
website will provide you with a wide variety of resources to help
make your student's experience at NYU successful, and at the same
time help you be an informed parent.
PREPARING TO ARRIVE
Preparing for your student's first days at NYU is an exciting but
sometimes overwhelming process. Throughout the summer, students
will receive a variety of mailings from their school or department,
the university, housing (if living on campus) and the health center.
These mailings will include dates and information on school orientations,
registration, advisement, health information forms, Welcome Week
programs, commuter and residential programming, and a variety of
other details to help your student prepare for their arrival in
August.
Move-In Day: Sunday, August 30, 2009
NYU
residence halls will open for the fall on Sunday, August 30th.
You will receive more information about residential life, housing
assignments, and move-in procedures over the summer.
Students and Parents are also invited to stop by the Kimmel Center
for University Life for a bite to eat and to attend an information
fair. For further information, go to www.nyu.edu.welcome.
Parent's Day: Saturday, October 17, 2009
Held annually for the parents of new freshmen and transfer students,
Parent's Day features a variety of academic and extra-curricular
activities and programs designed to introduce parents to academic
and student life at NYU. It is also a great opportunity to visit
with your son or daughter and explore the city. If you prefer,
we also invite you to make the day your own, participating in what
your schedule will allow. Registration will be available in late
September at www.nyu.edu/parentsday.
As you make travel plans, you may wish to review the resources
available on our Visiting
NYU tab on the upper left side of this
page which will provide you with general information
on hotels, directions, maps, and parking. |
