The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), established in 1991, is a nation-wide league of club ice hockey programs. The ACHA is made up of over 180 teams in four divisions. (New York University participates in Division II.) The American Collegiate Hockey Association is a chartered non-profit corporation whose purpose is to support quality, unity and regulation of four year intercollegiate hockey programs nationwide. The ACHA's primary mission is to support the growth of four year collegiate hockey programs nationwide. The ACHA identifies standards which serve to unite and regulate teams at the collegiate level. The ACHA shall emphasize academic performance, institutional sanction, eligibility criteria, standards of play and opportunities for national competition. The ACHA promotes all aspects of collegiate hockey stressing the personal development of individual athletes as well as national recognition for member organizations. |
| SUPER EAST COLLEGIATE HOCKEY LEAGUE | |

The Super East Collegiate Hockey League (SECHL), is an ACHA Division II club hockey league composed of 8 ice hockey programs in the greater New York/New England area. Members are Central Connecticut State University, College of the Holy Cross, Marist College, Montclair State University, University of New Hampshire, New York University, Siena College, & William Paterson University. Each member team plays all the other member teams both home and away, for a 14 game schedule against other SECHL opponents. At the end of this season, the top six teams participate in a single elimination league championship tournament. |

New York University is a member of the University Athletic Association (UAA). Organized in 1986, the UAA is a unique group of universitite dedicated to competitive athletic programs while maintaining academic standards of the highest quality. The eight members of the UAA are committed to a philosophy that values athletics as an integral part of the student's total education and believe that excellence in athletics and academics are not mutually exclusive. Accordingly, NYU athletes are treated the same as other students in admissions, financial aid and academic policies, and men's and women's sports receive equal emphasis. The other members of the UAA, all private research universities with undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs are: Brandeis University (Waltham, MA), Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA), Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH), the University of Chicago (Chicago, IL), Emory University (Atlanta, GA), the University of Rochester (Rochester, NY), and Washington University in St. Louis (St. Louis, MO). |
